As of January 6, the Charleston January Jam WILL be held. At this time, there is no threat of inclement weather in Charleston. Any changes will be sent to Club Directors via email and posted on this site.
Palmetto Region Inclement Weather Policy:
For bad weather that strikes one to two days before the tournament, the tournament WILL BE HELD unless teams are otherwise notified (canceled tournament information will be on the HOST and/or region web page and an attempt will be made via email to notify all teams).
Considerations to cancel will be made based on weather at the location of the facilities. Refunds will not be provided because weather is bad from where team is coming from. We try to make decisions by 3pm day before event begins.
The Charleston January Jam is a power league format tournament, held January 7-8, 2017. Registration will be available on Advanced Event Systems, and with 12 courts at the beautiful North Charleston Convention Center, we will be able to accommodate 72 teams. All play will be on-site at the convention center and first referees will be provided. Teams will have a guaranteed 4 matches of pool play on Saturday, plus bracket play on Sunday.
Registration will be available through AES on November 15. Entry fee is $425.
Following a power league format, age groups may be combined for the January Jam. Divisions offered in 2017 will be:
15-16 Power*will be held in Myrtle Beach, still following a power league format
Play on Saturday will be divided into waves. All teams will advance to playoffs on Sunday.
Teams will be placed in a 3-team pool for initial pool play on Saturday morning. After the first round, teams will be re-seeded into a second three-team pool, which will be played Saturday afternoon. Playoff brackets will be played on Sunday.

- AM Wave, Group 1 – 8:00am
- AM Wave, Group 2 – 11:15am

All matches start at zero, matches during pool play will have a 2-point cap. Challenge matches and playoff matches on Sunday will start at zero and do not have a cap.
- Professional R1 will be provided for each match. Professional R1 and R2 will be provided for all Gold division finals matches.

Team check-in will be held from 6-8:30pm on Friday night and from 7-8:30am on Saturday morning. If your team plays in the first wave on Saturday, we strongly suggest that you check-in on Friday night to avoid any delays. Coach or team parent may check the team in, but must collect all team materials at that time (individual pickup of pre-ordered wristbands is not permitted). To check-in, please bring a copy of your USAV roster.
Food & Seating
Food, tables, and coolers are NOT allowed in the facility. Food tables are NOT allowed to be set up anywhere inside the convention center. Players may bring in water bottles in their backpacks.
Portable sport chairs are NOT allowed due to space limitations. Ample seating will be provided around each court. If your team is not playing, please allow spectators for teams that are playing to sit.
Athletic Trainers/First Aid
There will be an athletic trainer on-site throughout the tournament to provide pre-game taping and injury care for players. Ice will be available for post-game care and injuries.
